Canada Experience Class (CEC) Requirements Updated

By Michael Niren December 10, 2009 1 min. read

On December 4th, Citizen and Immigration Canada (CIC) published a major update to a chapter of its Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category. The chapter that was updated involves the processing of applications for permanent residency in the Canada Experience Class, and includes the criteria that must be met by applicants and how refusals are handled.

New Requirements For Canada Experience Class

The Canada Experience Class was implemented in September 2009, and allows the experience in Canada to be a primary factor for workers and students with professional, managerial and skilled work experience when immigrating to Canada. It is a permanent resident category for workers or graduates with Canadian work experience who are familiar with Canada’s society and job market, have knowledge of English or French and have the skills to make a successful transition to temporary and permanent residence in Canada.

Information & Updates to the Canada Experience Class

The objectives of the program are for Canada to retain the maximum social, cultural and economic benefits of immigration, to enrich the cultural and social fabric of Canada as well as to help develop a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

Changes include updates on the requirements of the class, the definition of family members, definition of full-time work experience, changes to the application process as well as updates to the pass and fail requirements. These changes are in addition to an update made earlier this February to the test score equivalency for the International English Language Testing System and Canadian Language Benchmarks.

Yasmeen Ali was the direct contact i was working with. She is absolutely the best agent i met. Very professional and very friendly at the same time. She was so helpful and patient, especially during Covid times. She answered all my questions and emails to renew my husbands PR. I would definately recommend this firm especially if you live abroad. Ask for Yasmeen Ali, the friendliest and most efficient agent! Thank you again Yasmeen….all the others working with her seem also very professional and efficient…they also followed up during her absence.

We were switched legal teams 3 times within our time there.( This was not our doing) We weren’t impressed at all with the service almost all the way through our experience. Our review would have been 1 star. The response time was awful. To get in contact with our attorney was so difficult. And not thorough. Almost at the end, when we were almost ready to file, we got switched again, but this time, we are thankful. The attorney we got then was Andrew Diamond. He is fantastic and the reason for the 5 star rating. This is his rating. He was phenomenal. Absolutely amazing and prompt with response time and very knowledgeable, thorough and so helpful. We couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you Andrew for all you did for us!

I’m satisfied with the expertise and professionalism with which my case was managed and handled. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the firm for its support. Although it has been a long process time due to Covid, Nadia has always been one of the first people to guide me step by step through the path during this stressful and unprecedented time. I strongly recommend VisaPlace to anyone seeking legal counsel.
