Should You Contact a Lawyer First…?

It is important to remember that when applying for Canadian Immigration, you are required to submit your application to the Canadian Embassy of your nationality. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. You should always contact an immigration lawyer to assist you with the procedures associated with the Canadian Embassy of your region because the Canadian Embassy in Cameroon may have its own set of special rules and procedures.

    Hello,
I’ve just received a letter in my CIC account asking to drop my passport in the embassy in Yaounde; I’ve been told before that it needs 15 business days to retrieve my passport.
I’ve also read in the message that there is an express delivery for urgent situations where you have to pay additional costs. I have my flight and programs already set, and 15 business days exceeds the my stay left in Cameroon before my flight. Can I please have an idea about the number of business days to retrieve a passport under an express delivery?
Thank you in advance for your reply

    Hello,

I’m Lebanese living in Cameroon, I’m applying online to obtain the Canadian Visa.
I already have the US visa on my passport. Since I’m going to New York this summer I’d love to visit my relatives in Montreal and do some tourism in this wonderful city. Though I’be be staying in an hotel, would it be better to have an invitation from my cousin there? or an hotel reservation is enough?
I have another question please, after submitting my application online would I have the chance to choose the date of appointment before paying the fees? Since I’m engaged with some other things in and outside the country in the coming period.
    Thank you so much

          Hello again Vahe,
I have submitted my application online on May 25, and provided my biometrics on May 27 in VAC Yaounde. Since then I have received 3 similar emails from CIC in 3 different days. The email says: Your application has been updated. Please sign in to your MyCIC account and check your application status and messages for more information.
And when I enter mycic account to go to check status and messages, I don’t find any new messages, there are the same old messages from the submission of my application. Is it normal? I’m afraid that maybe I’m being told to provide my passport to the VAC for example and I can’t see updates or new messages in mycic account.
          Thank you so much

Hello Grace. Having an invitation is a great start. Did you know that Tourist Visas are one of the most difficult to obtain? Immigration officers need to be 100% certain that you intend on going home when your visit is over. We have seen many people attempt to file the application on their own and make a little mistake that gets them a refusal. Every refusal stays on your permanent record. I am going to suggest that you contact us to make an appointment to talk with one of our immigration professionals who will be able to plan the best strategy for you and your wife.
