Due to the increase in Canada’s Consumer Price Index, immigration processing fees will be increased which will be effective April 30th, 2020.
It is important to know that the fees incorporated in this change do not include other possible expenses related to your application, for example, costs of documents, language tests, translations, and more.
Fees for permanent resident cards, permanent resident travel documents, and certification or replacement immigration documents will remain unchanged.
The IRCC has states that fees for permanent residence applications are expected to increase again in 2022 in accordance with the Consumer Price Index.
Processing Fees Included in Increase
Non-business economic class: This category includes Express Entry, Quebec Skilled Worker Program, the Provincial Nominee Program, etc. These groups will be facing a 50% increase ($550 to $825). The only non-business program that is not included in this change is the Caregiver Program which will remain the same.
Business economic classes: These programs will be given a 50% increase ($1050 to $1575) on April 30th which includes the Start-Up Visa, Quebec Investor Program, Quebec Entrepreneur Program, and self-employed.
Spouse or Common-Law Partner: Spouse or common-law partners of ALL economic classes will have a 50% increase ($550 to $825)
Dependent Children: Dependent children of ALL economic classes will have a 50% increase ($150 to $225).
Permanent Residents: Last but not least, permanent resident fees will increase by 2% ($490 to $500).
