Parental and Grand Parent Sponsorship Reaches Quota of 5000 for 2014

Hello, this is Michael Niren. I’m an immigration lawyer and founder of It was just announced by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
that the parental and grandparent sponsorship has met its quota of 5,000
for the year. That didn’t take very long; it’s only February. That means no
more applications will be processed, or new ones, until next year.

The Super Visa Option

However, you’re still allowed to apply for the Super Visa which has been a
very successful way of getting parents and grandparents to come visit for
extended periods during the period where applications for sponsorship are
not processed.

So again, the announcement is that the 5,000 cap has been reached, and no
more applications for parental and grandparent sponsorships will be
processed for 2014.
