Beginning March 1, 2024, foreign nationals who have established themselves in Alberta and work for a tourist or hospitality business can apply to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) through the new Tourist and Hospitality Stream.
What Is the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program?
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program is the province’s economic immigration program designed to attract and retain skilled workers and businesses. It is operated in collaboration with the federal government and allows the Alberta government to solve labour market difficulties and gaps by nominating skilled/experienced candidates to fill employment vacancies. This program is part of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Programs.
How Do I Know If I’m Eligible for the Tourism and Hospitality Stream?
To qualify for the stream, candidates must:
- have been employed in the industry for at least six months
- have a valid full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an approved employer operating within the appropriate industry
- already be established in Alberta

According to the Alberta Ministry of Immigration and Multiculturalism, the new immigration stream aims to fill 18 jobs:
