The IRCC plans to have considerably different policies, procedures, and digital solutions in place to handle the post-pandemic spike in applications that is anticipated.
Those in charge of Canadian immigration would like to use digital processing whenever possible in order to minimize the need for in-person or paper processes. This would lead to more efficient and quicker application processing while at the same time protect the safety of everyone involved.
Canada Continues Welcoming Immigration in 2020
With the country’s Multi-Year Immigration Plan, Canada anticipates welcoming over one million immigrants in the next three years.
Even as the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in Canada shows signs of slowing, the Canadian government is still working hard to accept and process most applications. These include Express Entry and PNP Draws, along with work and study permits and also family sponsorship applications.
Before the pandemic hit, Canada was seeing record-breaking numbers of immigrants, foreign workers, and international students.
