Success Story: Immigrating as Chef

Success Story

I have been a chef in Bangladesh for 11 years now. My brother became a permanent resident in Canada a few years ago, and I began to think about moving there myself. First, I wanted to visit to see if it was the right fit for me but I also needed to continue to work to make income. I was overwhelmed with the number of visas there were for chefs. VisaPlace helped me find the right visa and I am currently living in Canada working as a chef for the time being.

Name: Ahnaf

Date of Consultation: June 2018

Turnaround: 1 week

Type of Visa: Canadian Temporary Work Visa

Background:

A Bangladesh Citizen, Ahnaf, was a chef in Bangladesh for 11 years and wanted to expand his culinary experience to Canada. He has a brother who lived in Canada for 10 years, 3 of them being a permanent resident. Ahnaf didn’t want to live permanently in Canada like his brother but go to Canada for work and travel. He wanted to visit Canada first in order to find if this was the right country for him. He also was going to use his visiting time in Canada as an opportunity to interview for chef positions in Toronto.

Immigration Situation:

In order to fulfill everything, Ahnaf wanted to be accomplished there were a few milestones that had to be met. First, Ahnaf needed a visitor visa to Canada for him to see if there were jobs available and if he wanted to stay in Canada to work and live. Second, if Ahnaf ended up liking Canada, VisaPlace had to help him obtain a work visa so that he could live and work in Toronto. Thankfully Canada does have many opportunities for chefs and many visas that they can apply for. There are several requirements such as speak English proficiently, have no criminal record, be able to support yourself financially and prove that you will not be a medical drain on the economy.

Solution:

Bangladesh Citizens are required to apply for a Canada eTA visa to enter Canada on a short term basis (under 90 days) for general tourism, business, transit or medical purposes. It is advised that Bangladesh citizens complete their eTA application 72 hours before departure date so this was all set for Ahnaf to go to Canada for a short time visit. Once Ahnaf returned to Bangladesh after his Toronto visit, he has a job offer and decided he wanted to go to Canada to work. VisaPlace then helped Ahnaf apply for a temporary work visa for him to work in Canada as a chef.

Outcome:

Ahnaf was able to visit Canada to obtain a job offer and visit his brother. When Ahnaf went back to Bangladesh he was able to apply for a temporary work permit with a job offer. VisaPlace helped Ahnaf obtain a temporary work permit in 1 week! Now he is happily the head chef at well-known restaurant in downtown Toronto.

This is not an exaggeration!!! I was truly impressed with the way VisaPlace consultants handled my case. The consultants- Emily, Lauren, Takunda and Lisa, took their time to explain to me in great deal how they were going to approach my case and how they would handle setbacks, if any. Their professionalism and knowledge of the law were superb. The minor setback that came up was quickly addressed by the team. The team constantly kept me updated on the progress/status of my application; they quickly responded to my questions/concerns. They had predicated my permanent residency to be processed within 6 -12, and Indeed it was processed and completed within 6 months. Based on my personal experience, Emily and Lauren's team are the best! They deserve 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!

VisaPlace helped me sponsor my husband to become a Permanent Resident of Canada. They were extremely professional. Every step along the way was explained fully and expertly taken care of. The staff responded immediately to any questions and always handled our concerns fully, taking as much time as we needed to understand where we were at in the immigration process and what to expect next. I would recommend VisaPlace with no hesitation at all. I'm sure if we had tried to navigate the immigration process ourselves, it would have been much harder.
