Almost three quarters of Americans say that Immigrants that are living illegally in the U.S should not be kicked out. The support for obtaining full US citizenship is a little different, 46% of U.S citizens say that the illegal immigrants in the U.S should not have an open path to U.S citizenship.
A national survey made by the Pew Research Center says that a pretty large percentage of the public wouldn’t mind giving some sort of “in-between” status.
There was a very large difference of opinion when it came to higher deportations of illegal immigrants. Democrats seem to be more opposed than the Republicans. Also, Hispanics seem to be more concerned about these issues than whites and blacks.
Giving people an opportunity to have a better quality of life even if they do not qualify for immigration seems to be the general feeling among all. The senate has also approved an immigration reform package. However, the Republicans do not seem to be ready to tackle the issue of immigration reform this year.
