The National Household Survey, something Statistics Canada has designed in an effort to gather more information on Canada and Canadians now that the long-form census is gone, has uncovered all kinds of interesting data regarding the makeup of Canadian society. 
According to the survey, Canada is currently home to 6.8 million residents who were born in another country, which is 20.6 per cent of the total population. In 2006, that number was 19.8 per cent. This is also the highest number of people who are foreign born living in a G8 country.
One in five people living in Canada is a visible minority, but there are actually nine different municipalities in Canada where the visible minorities are the majority.
