Skilled workers needed in Western Provinces
Western provinces need foreign skilled workers
According to this article in the Globe and Mail, while Ottawa is busy trying to figure out how to deal with a serious immigration application backlog, the Western provinces are desperate for more foreign skilled workers as the economy booms and jobs are created.
British Columbia Premier Christy Clark told the Globe and Mail in an interview that, “The biggest one for us in the West is immigration. It’s one of the most important economic levers any government has and we don’t have it… we need to devolve immigration to provincial governments.”
The Western provinces wants more control over how many skilled workers they can bring to Canada. For example, right now BC can bring in 3,500 foreign skilled workers, but they’d like to see the number almost doubled.
Many small business owners in the Western provinces can’t bring in workers fast enough to suit their needs or grow their businesses.
The federal government is considering a pilot program to tackle the immigration application backlog, where provinces could get an additional 1,500 workers if they choose them from the pool of older applications, but it’s now known if they’ll actually implement the program.

Spectacular experience. Completely smooth process, they were able to answer any of my questions any time and I had peace of mind throughout the application time, which was invaluable. I have recommended them to other friends looking for assistance with their applications, and will continue to do so. Worth every penny.

Great law firm with great staff. My lawyer Rania did a great job for my Canadian work permit and my daughters study permit. You are great in your work. And my Para Legal officer Alicea, you are just amazing. They did not rest until my job was promptly and properly done. Always there to answer my calls, reply my emails promptly. She tried her best and the results were amazing. I recommend visa place if you need the best immigration job. Many thanks to Rania and Alicea.
