Remembrance Day is less than a week away. On this day new immigrants may wonder why Canadians are walking around with little red flowers pinned to their coats!
Canadians all over the country will remember, for a little while at least, all those who fought and died for this great country. We do this by wearing Poppies sold by the Royal Canadian Legion, we do this by reciting the poem “In Flander’s Field”, we do this by appreciating every moment. For this is a country of freedom, and we are able to live thanks to these men and women.
On November 11th at 11am, we will stand in silence for two minutes while the trumpets fill the quiet sky with the somber song of battle, we will reflect on those who lost their lives, for those who sacrificed everything to secure our freedom. We will forever be grateful.
