To apply for Express Entry programs you will be measured by how many CRS points you have. Recently, there has been a change in how many points you will receive if you speak French. The Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, Marco Mendicino, announced that French-speaking candidates will receive additional points. The Canadian government is committed to reaching a target of 4.4% French-speaking immigrants outside of Quebec by 2023.
You can now earn up to 50 additional points for strong French language skills (even if French is your second language).
You can earn 25 additional points if you ‘Scored NCLC 7 or higher on all four French language skills and scored CLB 4 or lower in English (or didn’t take an English test)
You can earn 50 additional points if you ‘Scored NCLC 7 or higher on all four French language skills and scored CLB 5 or higher on all four English skills
