June 20th Marked World Refugee Day

June 20th was World Refugee Day, and Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney marked the occasion with a speech he delivered in Ottawa. According to his speech, Canada has been a safe refuge for refugees since the 1700s for people escaping oppression and persecution everywhere.

“Last year alone, we resettled more than 12,000 refugees from abroad, and another 12,300 people were granted protection though the Asylum Program,” said Minister Kenney. According to Kenney, the number of refugees will be increased by 20 per cent each year in the future.

“That means that up to 500 more government-assisted refugees and 2,000 more privately sponsored refugees will find refuge in Canada,” he said.

Minister Kenney also took the time to announce the launching of an exhibit that would travel throughout Canada and be found at libraries across the country, which details the challenges faced by refugees in refugee camps around the world.

“It is our hope that this exhibit and video will help increase awareness about the plight of refugees, and that they will educate Canadians about why our refugee program is so important,” said Minister Kenney.

Spectacular experience. Completely smooth process, they were able to answer any of my questions any time and I had peace of mind throughout the application time, which was invaluable. I have recommended them to other friends looking for assistance with their applications, and will continue to do so. Worth every penny.

Great law firm with great staff. My lawyer Rania did a great job for my Canadian work permit and my daughters study permit. You are great in your work. And my Para Legal officer Alicea, you are just amazing. They did not rest until my job was promptly and properly done. Always there to answer my calls, reply my emails promptly. She tried her best and the results were amazing. I recommend visa place if you need the best immigration job. Many thanks to Rania and Alicea.
