Changes in Canadian immigration laws to heart moving immigrant success stories.

Canada Immigration News

One out of eight international students from the Comoros island has received permission from Canada to continue their studies at Cegep de Victoriaville. “At the Cegep de Victoriaville, one always chooses students in programs where the graduates have prospects of employment of 90% and more,” insists the director-general of the establishment, Paul Theriault. “The real problem is that it creates hope unnecessarily,” he added. The students were accepted at the University and given false hope of better higher education in Canada. “If the announced 200 scholarships and that there are only twenty students who are receiving their visa and can continue their approach to academic…personally, I think it’s a fiasco,” concludes the director general of the Cegep. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the other seven students will be able to attend school in Canada this year but hopefully next year they will be given another chance.

For many tech workers, northern California isn’t quite north enough. Donald Trump’s election victory last November sparked a surge of immigration to Toronto among US-based engineers and tech entrepreneurs. Trump’s win isn’t the only reason Canadian startups are seeing US talent trickle in, Greve Young said. Toronto and Vancouver are becoming powerhouses in the tech world. (They recently placed 9th and 14th, respectively, in Business Insider’s ranking of the world’s most high-tech cities.) “Toronto’s star has been rising,” she said. Silicon Valley may still be the capital of technology and innovation, but it’s becoming less of default for people looking to pursue tech stardom in North America. “The best global tech talent wants to be where they anticipate the best global tech to be emerging,” she said. “And you also see indications that that might not be in the States right now.”

Second time working with Visaplace, and was successful again with a visa application for parents (2 out of 2). Worked with Felicita and Mansi, strong guidance, very detailed approach to putting together a very thorough and comprehensive application. Good feedback and support throughout the full process. Highly recommend Visaplace!
