Rapper “The Game” Denied Entry To Canada

By Michael Niren April 21, 2011 1 min. read

According to his own tweets on the subject before his cell phone was confiscated,  American rapper “The Game” was denied entry to Canada and then detained for 14 days while he waits for a hearing – after already spending three hours in customs.

A representative for the Canada Border Service Agency told MTV News on Wednesday that the information in The Game’s tweets was wrong.

What happens when someone is detained entry to Canada?

A foreign national that is detained at the Canadian border is entitled to a hearing before the Immigration and Refugee Board within 48 hours – not 14 days.

The Game is a convicted felon but he maintains that it was his 2005 album that makes him undesirable to Canadian border officials, not his criminal record. According to more of The Game’s tweets, he was falsely told by his promoters that getting into Canada wouldn’t be a problem. No other information is available about why The Game was denied entry into Canada.

No matter who you are, how much money you have or what important events you’re attending in Canada, a criminal record can lead to your being denied entry into Canada and/or detained. If you do have a criminal record, discuss your options with a qualified immigration lawyer – do not rely on information from colleagues, friends or family members.

Visa place helped me with my daughter’s sponsorship 3 years ago. Last week I contacted them for some clarification on a different matter. It was about an issue which technically was a problem of CIC’s software glitch and had nothing to do with Visa Place.
Yet Reena Sandu was assigned for my case. she helped me with enthusiasm and showed no hesitation despite me being an ex-client from 3 years ago.
I was very happy that even after 3 years of finishing business, Visa Place were respectful of their clients. Special thanks again to Reena for her enthusiasm and support.
