New Passport Requirements for Canadians and Americans
Well the day is almost here where Canadians and Americans will require passports, enhanced drivers license or a travel card such as a NEXUS or FAST card in order to cross the border. On June 1, presenting a birth certificate or a traditional drivers license to a customs officer will not be sufficient to cross the Canada-US border.
New Passport Requirements unlikely to result in being denied entry
However, US and Canadian officals have promised to be somewhat flexible in applying the new rules at least at first. If you do not have the new required documentation, it is therefore unlikely that you will be denied entry to the US or Canada. Instead you will be warned and will be given instructional “tearsheets”. For more information on the new passport requirements, go to our previous blog on the subject here. Happy Crossings!
