Immigration consultants facing charges
A former immigration consultant and two other immigration consultants in Winnipeg and Montreal are facing dozens of charges by the Canada Border Services Agency.
According to this National Post article, the founder of Canadian Immigration Solutions Manitoba (later named CISI Canadian Immigration Strategies), Brad Jacobson, is facing more than 20 counts of immigration fraud and is accused of creating fake businesses so foreign workers could come to Canada. According to the Canada Border Services Agency, there are an estimated 300 victims.
New immigration consultant regulatory body revoked membership
Jacobson was also charged in 2010 for immigration fraud and the new government regulatory council for immigration consultants, The Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council, took away his membership after those initial charges.
Despite the creation of this new government regulatory body and the government making it illegal for anyone to offer immigration services while not being a member of that regulatory body, shady immigration consultants are still out there and are still operating.
