Family deported from Canada two years ago
According to this Vancouver Sun article, a family originally from Albania that was deported from Canada has been allowed to return more than two years later.
Almost 10 years ago, the father was left partially paralyzed in Albania after an assassination attempt and the man and his family came to Canada as refugees. The family also had Canadian-born twins, but all were deported in 2009.
Federal court reverses deportation from Canada decision
A federal court decision reversed the original deportation from Canada and allowed the family to return as refugees, which they did last week. An apology was demanded of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney by Liberal immigration critic Kevin Lamoureux, who said, “He had twins that were born here in Canada and (the deportation caused) the disruption and destruction of his life because the minister didn’t do what the minister should have done. He owes him an apology…at the very least.”
He continued, “What we need to recognize is that refugees play a critical role in the overall development of our country and contribute immensely to the social and economic benefits that all Canadians have.”
Immigration Minister Kenney has also been ordered to pay the family’s legal fees by federal court.

My husband and I were denied refugee protection in Canada. We applied for a PRRA however, our representative submitted the application one day late and they issued removal orders immediately. We were given 30 days to leave. Our representative advised that he will apply for a deferral, this was also denied, therefore that left us in the same position. We had an H&C application in preparation and was ready to be submitted. After speaking to our rep, he advised that we remain illegal in Canada and wait for the H&C to be decided. We overstayed, they issued warrants for our arrest and eventually caught up with us. We were both deported. Now I’d like to know whether we will ever be able to return? My husband’s employer whom he worked with for 2 years is willing to sponsor him but will this be possible??
