Additional information about this Canadian Embassy in Nigeria:

According to the 2006 census, approximately 10,000 people have recently immigrated to Canada from Nigeria. Trade between Canada and Nigeria exceeds $1 billion annually, but visa requirements are continually fluctuating between Canada and Nigeria, making it important to speak to an immigration lawyer when possible.

Should You Contact a Lawyer First…?

It is important to remember that when applying for Canadian Immigration, you are required to submit your application to the Canadian Embassy of your nationality. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. You should always contact an immigration lawyer to assist you with the procedures associated with the Canadian Embassy of your region because the Canadian Embassy in Nigeria may have its own set of special rules and procedures.

Hello. Thanks for the response the other day. After waiting for over 105 days, i was asked to submit my passport and that of my family members. Three of us ( Myself, wife and first daughter) did bio-metrics in May 2016, the other two are children. I submitted the passport for all of us on six days ago based on the instruction and attached the letter of request. As at now only that of my two children are ready for collection. The ones for the three of us that did bio-metric are not ready.
Is there any cause for concern.

I am getting married by the end of March, 2016.
Some of family (parents- have visited 4 times before) and bride’s family are based in Nigeria.
They have applied for Visitor Visa together since the beginning of the year and up till now there is no response.
Do I have to call the Visa office in lagos to expedite the process or what is the best route?
I need my parents on my wedding day.
    Please advise.

Hello Sam. It must be so frustrating for you. A visitor visa approval should not take so long when the application is prepared properly. The end of March is in only 6 days. It is too late for us to take on the case for you. You will have to call the visa office, if you are identified on the applications as being authorized to discuss the case, and see what the problem is.
      Good luck, Vahe

If you visit the CIC website, http://www.cic.gc.ca, it will give you details about they backlog that they have been experiencing due to the amount of applications that they have received recently for various types of Visas. In any case, sometimes delays are experienced when an applicant has submitted an incomplete or incorrect application.
