The Best Countries report is a ranking system created by U.S. News. For the last three years, Switzerland has held the title of the best country until now. Canada has finally climbed to number 1 in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings. Previously, in 2020, Canada was placed in the second-best country. The Best Countries Report evaluated 79 nations using 76 different metrics in order to appropriately rank them.
There were a few new metrics added to this year’s report including the commitment to social justice, commitment to climate goals, adaptability, and racial equity. Canada excelled in all of these areas. There were ten sub-rankings that made up the overall ranking of each country:
- Adventure
- Agility
- Cultural Influence
- Entrepreneurship
- Heritage
- Movers
- Open for Business
- Power
