Focus should be on economic immigrants: Researchers

Economists suggest more economic immigrants come to Canada

According to this article in the Huffington Post, researchers are urging Citizenship and Immigration Canada to focus on more economic immigrants, such as those through theskilled worker classes as opposed to family class immigrants and refugees.

The researchers are economists from Queen’s University who are working on a paper that details how much income different types of immigrants to Canada bring in. During this time, Citizenship and Immigration Canada is also holding cross-country consultations with the public to determine what kind of mix of immigrants Canada should be focusing on in its immigration policies.

Economic immigrants make more money than other immigrants to Canada

According to a study by the researchers, economic immigrants make between 30 and 56 per cent more money annually than immigrants from other classes, but immigrants of all skill levels experienced lower earnings during recessions. Economic immigrants were often the hardest hit during major layoffs because they were generally new arrivals to jobs and had less seniority than other employees.

Online immigration questionnaire now open

Meanwhile, Citizenship and Immigration Canada has officially opened up its consultations to the public: from August 29th to September 19th, people can fill out the questionnaire and give their input on Canada’s immigration levels here.

Visa place helped me with my daughter’s sponsorship 3 years ago. Last week I contacted them for some clarification on a different matter. It was about an issue which technically was a problem of CIC’s software glitch and had nothing to do with Visa Place.
Yet Reena Sandu was assigned for my case. she helped me with enthusiasm and showed no hesitation despite me being an ex-client from 3 years ago.
I was very happy that even after 3 years of finishing business, Visa Place were respectful of their clients. Special thanks again to Reena for her enthusiasm and support.
