Mexican-born actress will not face jail time for US Immigration Fraud
Prosecutors are not seeking jail time for Mexican actress Fernanda Romero, who along with her husband has admitted lying to US immigration authorities about living together in a sham marriage for immigration purposes.
The marriage was arranged so that Romero could stay in the United States. Both parties were arrested a year ago, and there was enough evidence available to suggest they were only married on immigration forms – they were living separate lives, didn’t live together and dated other people.
Couple guilty of immigration fraud made plea deal
Romero has had bit parts in American movies like “Drag Me To Hell” but is also known in her native Mexico for staring on a Mexican soap opera. Because of a plea agreement, the two will likely receive probation and no jail time.
Getting involved with Marriage Fraud is just not worth taking the risk. Ms. Romero got lucky not having to spend jail time.
