George Galloway sues Immigration Minister after being denied entry to Canada

A former British MP who was denied entry to Canada last year has made good on his promise to sue, having filed a legal claim this week against Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney and his assistant, Alykhan Velshi. George Galloway is seeking $1.5 million and saying that Minister Kenney abused his authority and caused him “18 months of hell”.

In early 2009, Galloway was denied entry to Canada because of his donation to an aid group which Kenney said had a relation to a known terrorist organization. He needed to enter Canada because of a speaking tour at Canadian universities, but wasn’t able to. He has been allowed to enter Canada since 2010 when a judge overturned the ban.

Being denied entry to Canada ruined reputation: lawyer

After Galloway was banned he stated that he would sue the Canadian government for banning him and subsequently damaging his reputation. He is also saying that the comments made by Kenney against him threatened his personal security and cost him his job, because he lost his seat in Britain’s House of Commons afterwards.

Galloway’s lawyer said that his being denied entry to Canada affected him greatly, saying, “His reputation was tarnished not just in Great Britain but in fact all over the world by the allegations that were made against him,” he said.

Visa place helped me with my daughter’s sponsorship 3 years ago. Last week I contacted them for some clarification on a different matter. It was about an issue which technically was a problem of CIC’s software glitch and had nothing to do with Visa Place.
Yet Reena Sandu was assigned for my case. she helped me with enthusiasm and showed no hesitation despite me being an ex-client from 3 years ago.
I was very happy that even after 3 years of finishing business, Visa Place were respectful of their clients. Special thanks again to Reena for her enthusiasm and support.
