Hi Michael, Mary and Fadi,

I would like to start off by wishing you all a very Happy New Year!  I hope that the next decade brings you all love, laughter and happiness. I want to thank you guys for helping me with my US Humanitarian Parole application and my trip to New Jersey was a success.  I did come back to Toronto on December 30th and surrendered the Parole sheet to Canadian Customs.  I have made a photocopy of this sheet for our records.

I look forward to working with you on my US Waiver application.  Please let me know what the next steps are and any other information you require from me.  Once again thanks for all your help and I will wholeheartedly provide you with a reference to anyone seeking legal US immigration advice.

Thanks,
Sheetal

Dear Mrs. Mary Zhang

I wanted to send you a quick note to thank you kindly for the excellent service, guide, support and understanding and patience that you have shown in helping me though out the US Waiver application to the United States.

I am impressed with the customer service, dedication and professionalism I have received since we started this application.

Thanks to your hard work and devotion to the application I was granted my US Waiver permit to the United States.  I will be sure to inform my family and friends of your immigration law firm without hesitation.

I can not thank you enough for all your help.

Yours truly,

CML

Hi Beth!

I finally made it across to the US. I was sent to secondary inspection at the Peace Bridge and was kept there for quite a while being asked a million and one questions over and over about my purpose in the states and my ties to Canada, but I think when they were going through my purse and pulled out pictures of my parents and I started crying it really made them realize that I was telling the truth.

I’ve been allowed to stay until January 7th, and if I overstay or break any rules I can be banned for up to 10 years from the US. January 4th is more than sufficient for me so that won’t be an issue.

I just wanted to thank you, Johanna and Michael at Niren and Associates for all of your help once again. You will most likely hear from me in the near future regarding my immigration to the US.

Have a wonderful day!
Mabel

I was denied entry to the US over 5 yrs ago due to a criminal record. I now find that I have to fly to St. Maarten in August and there are no direct flights. I will therefore  have a short layover in the US. Is it possible to get special permission at the point of entry? My conviction was 7 years ago. It was for theft and fraud under 5000. Please help

________________

Even if you are just entering the US on a layover, you will require a US Waiver or Humanitarian Parole (for urgent admissions) if you are inadmissible to the US. Without knowing more details of your conviction, it is hard to determine if you are inadmissible to the US. It may be that you fall under what is known as the Petty Offense Exception in which case your conviction will not render you inadmissible to the US and you can take that flight. Otherwise you will need a US Waiver.

Well the day is almost here where Canadians and Americans will require passports, enhanced drivers license or a travel card such as a NEXUS or FAST card in order to cross the border. On June 1, presenting a birth certificate or a traditional drivers license to a customs officer will not be sufficient to cross the Canada-US border.

However, US and Canadian officals have promised to be somewhat flexible in applying the new rules at least at first. If you do not have the new required documentation, it is therefore unlikely that you will be denied entry to the US or Canada. Instead you will be warned and will be given instructional “tearsheets”.  For more information on the new passport requirements, go to our previous blog on the subject here.  Happy Crossings!

Hi Fadi! Thank you for assisting me with my entry to the US after being denied.  I will be coming back to Canada on June 10 to hand back my I94 Card as instructed.  I want to do this right this time!

I am grateful for your legal assistance

Thank you!
Anita
