Eligibile for EB-5 with a sponsor?

Asked by: 2706 views , , ,

I’m interested in immigrating with an EB-5 visa, but I don’t have enough money to invest.  My cousin would be willing to sponsor me, and provide the funds for the investment.  Would this scenario allow me to immigrate?  If so, will it matter what I’ve earned in the past few years, or will they be looking into what my cousin has earned?

Yes, you can, but you must verify the amount that your cousin will have to provide. Remember, you need to invest $500,000, have the source of funds verified, but also have either a net worth of $1 million, or make a significant salary (more than $200,000 over the past few years). This means that your cousin might have to provide much more than $500,000.
