Visa Rules change in U.S to hold on to Foreign Talent
The United States has said that they will soon begin allowing spouses of a foreign worker to apply for work visas. This has been done to retain highly skilled people for available jobs in the U.S.
This change will affect spouses of those on an H-1B Visa, this allows people to work on a limited-term while being sponsored by their companies. Spouses are only able to get a “dependent” H-4 visa which allows the spouse to live in the U.S but not work.
Under these new changes, the spouse of someone on an H1-B visa who have applied for Permanent Residency in the US are now able to apply for permission to work. When the spouse of an H1-B holder is not able to work they tend not to settle in the U.S for long.
This new proposal will bring more international talent to the U.S and allow them to create a more stable future.
The IT sector will significantly benefit from this, they have been trying for years to push for changes in the Immigration Rules. This will allow talented foreign innovators to do their best research right at home.
