Immigration Lawyer Michael Niren on the new Super Visa

According to Canadian Immigrant, the new Super Visa for parents and grandparents is getting mixed reviews from applicants. After the sponsorship program stopped accepting applications for parents and grandparents, the government of Canada compromised by introducing the Super Visa: A long-term visa that would allow parents and grandparents to visit their children and grandchildren in Canada multiple times over 10 years.SuperVisa for Parents and Grandparents

The current rate of acceptance for the visa’s applications is about 80 per cent, while 11,000 have been issued.

Immigration lawyer Michael Niren quoted about the Super Visa in Canadian Immigrant

“It has been an overall good experience with the Super Visa program,” he said. “While parental sponsorship applications used to take years and years to process, the turnaround time for the Super Visa is generally very quick and stable and approval rates are high.”

However, the financial criteria that Super Visa applicants must meet in order to be eligible for the visa is difficult for many. The families must buy at least a year of medical insurance from a Canadian company so that any healthcare needs will be met during their stay.

“The financial criteria and income threshold is a little extreme,” for a temporary visa, he says. “The Super Visa approval rate is very high, and once an applicant meets all the requirements there is a strong likelihood they’ll be approved.”

The Super Visa is a great option for Canadians who want their parents and grandparents to be able to visit them. However, there is a large number of things that you must take into consideration in order to apply, and it can be difficult to ensure that your application and their travel plans will go smoothly. Don’t risk buying a plane ticket too early, and ensure you meet all of the requirements for this visa by speaking with a licensed immigration lawyer before you apply.
