Canadian Government re-vamps Entrepreneur Immigration Program

By Michael Niren March 12, 2012 0 min. read

New Entrepreneur Immigration Program to be announced by end of 2012

Last year, the Canadian government cancelled the immigration entrepreneur program with little notice after 10 years. The program had a 10,000-application backlog before it was cancelled.

Now, in an interview with the Globe and Mail last week, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced that a new entrepreneur immigration program is going to be launched soon.

The previous entrepreneur immigration program required:

The applicant have previous experience, plans to open a business that would create another full-time job and a net worth of $300,000.

The new program is designed to attract more “high value innovators”, according to the article. This includes more people in industries like technology and energy, while focusing less on people opening up mall kiosks or convenience stores, which were the more common businesses started under the previous federal entrepreneur program.

The new program is expected to be announced officially by the end of this year.

Thank you for guiding us through this complicated process. Although the first part of our process with Visaplace we felt was slow, they turned it around. In the end we had a good experience with their attorney, she was determined to get it right and deserves to be commended.

I was very pleased with the service provided to me by VisaPlace. Felicita was professional and persistent, even contacting my employer to help fill out the Employer Portal. She went the extra mile and prepared a package of forms and documentation that let my wife and I breeze through the Canada Border Services process and be issued Canadian work permits.I feel I definitely got my money’s worth with these people.

Successfully obtained my US L1 Visa thanks to Visaplace. We had some problems with document retrieval at first but they’d been there before and guided us through. Highly recommended.

A while ago, I consulted with Mansi Sanghvi regarding my Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) application. She assisted in clarifying my doubts and instilled confidence in me. I subsequently received my nomination. I extend my gratitude to Mansi for her invaluable assistance. I wholeheartedly recommend her, as She possesses considerable experience and demonstrates generosity. Thank you Mansi!
