New Entrepreneur Immigration Program to be announced by end of 2012
Last year, the Canadian government cancelled the immigration entrepreneur program with little notice after 10 years. The program had a 10,000-application backlog before it was cancelled.
Now, in an interview with the Globe and Mail last week, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced that a new entrepreneur immigration program is going to be launched soon.

The applicant have previous experience, plans to open a business that would create another full-time job and a net worth of $300,000.
The new program is designed to attract more “high value innovators”, according to the article. This includes more people in industries like technology and energy, while focusing less on people opening up mall kiosks or convenience stores, which were the more common businesses started under the previous federal entrepreneur program.
The new program is expected to be announced officially by the end of this year.
