How Express Entry Works for Canadian Immigration 2017

The Canadian Government has gone ahead with a new system that will allow qualified immigrants to gain ‘express entry’ starting in 2015. This will help fill open jobs for which there are no Canadian workers. Express Entry which used to be known as Expression of interest will be an easier path to Canada that will pick immigrants based on the skills that Canada needs based on those identified by the Government as well as Employers.

Express-Entry-Immigration-2015Canadian employers would be able to bring in workers through an Express Entry system with a long term goal of remaining in Canada.

This will come into effect on Jan 1 2015, prospective immigrants apply to express their interest in coming to Canada. When they do so they will answer questions about their professional skills, education, languages spoken, etc.

The 2015 Express Entry Immigration Process & Rules

Step 1: Potential candidates fill out an online Express Entry form

Candidates who are eligible for the Express Entry program can complete an online profile which will include various details about themselves, including their skills, their language ability, education and previous work experience, amongst others. Candidates who successfully meet the criteria of one or more of the federal economic immigration programs under Express Entry will then be sorted into a pool of eligible individuals. These individuals will be ranked according to their chances of economic success, and the highest ranking candidates, along with those who have qualifying offers of employment or provincial/territorial nominations (who will automatically receive high rankings), will receive a formal invitation to apply for permanent residency. This way of doing things will allow Canada to pick the best possible candidates who are likely to go on to achieve success, rather than simply picking whoever is next in line. Candidates who do not have a valid job offer or provincial/territorial nomination must sign up to the Government’s of Canada’s Job Bank, so that he or she can be connected to relevant Canadian employers. Eligible employers will need to obtain a free Labour Market Impact Assessment via Employment and Social Development Canada for permanent residence applications. There is no guarantee that candidates who fill out an Express Entry profile will be invited to apply for permanent residence, as this will mainly be determined by their ranking and the other factors mentioned above (offer of employment, provincial/territorial nomination).

Step 2: The Government will invite successful candidates and permanent residency will be processed within 6 months

Those ranking highly in the pool (based on skills, experience, eligible job offers and relevant nominations where applicable) will then be invited to apply for permanent residency, and will have a total of 60 days to submit their electronic application. Electronic applications will be required to be submitted through one of the below programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Most applications will be pushed through swiftly by CIC, with many expected to be completed within six months. Candidates who have applied for the Express Entry program but who are not invited to apply for permanent residency after a year may then resubmit their profile and re-enter the pool, provided they are still eligible for the program. This is to prevent backlogs and allow for quicker processing and turnaround times. According to CIC, the Express Entry program will allow faster and more efficient immigration services to skilled immigrants. The program will also enable the Canadian Government to respond faster to Canada’s evolving economic conditions and changing priorities, and will increase flexibility.

Under the New Express Entry Immigration Program:

• Canada will pick the best candidates who are most likely to have success in Canada. • They will improve the Job Bank • There will be 14 million dollars invested over the next two years • Qualified applicants should expect processing times of 6 months or less after they have been    invited to Canada.

I have one year of canadian experience in the year 2008. However, in the express entry profile it is giving option to check only if the experience is more than 2 years. Will this one year of experience be considered at all?

    Hai,
I am Parthiban Aravamudhan, applied for Canada Express Entry program 2016. I scored each 6.0 band in IELTS (General Training) and my wife overall score is 5.5 band. Whether I am eligible to get a PR and a work permit or a job offer from any one of the provinces?

I am holding an Udergraduate degree in B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering from Vel Tech Engineering College, Anna University and a Post Graduate Degree in M.E. Power Electronics and Industrial Drives from Sathyabama University.

Now I am having total work experience of about 7 years (4 years in industry and 3 years & 3 months in teaching). Still I am working as an Assistant Professor in a private Engineering college which is affiliated to Anna University.

I received the degree equivalence report from World Education Services (WES) also.

Suppose If I get a Job offer from any one of the provinces and I am working there, can I directly do my Masters’s degree or Ph.d. program from a recognized University?

(OR) I want take IELTS exam (Academic) again to study there?

My spouse holding an Undergraduate degree in B.Com from Bharathidasan University and a Post graduate degree in M.Com from the same University. She is not having any work experience, but she wants to do her Master’s Program there.

My Wife also received the degree equivalence report from World Education Services (WES).

Whether she also wants to take the IELTS (Academic) again (or) PR is enough?

Thanks in advance. Expecting your report as early as possible.

    Hello,

I have a dream to live in Canada. To fulfill that, I have completed IELTS on 2nd April 2016 with overall 7.5 bands. The details of each module is as below.

    Listening – 8.5
    Reading – 7.5
    Writing – 6.5
    Speaking – 6.5

My other details are as below.

    Age: 32 years (DOB-2-July-1983)
Education : Bachelor of Commerce & PGDCA (from C-DAC, Govt. of India)
Experience : 8+ Years ( in Search Engine Optimization and Online Marketing)

    Wife’s Details are as follow.

    Wife’s Age : 31 Year (DOB-30-Sep-1984)
Wife’s Education : Bachelor of Commerce
    Wife’s Occupation : House Wife
Wife’s IELTS Score : Exam Not Taken

    Son’s Age : 5 Years (DOB-11-Nov-2010)

You can see that I have different work experience than my education stream.

I visited many Immigration consultant in Ahmedabad, India regarding express entry PR VISA in Canada. Some of them told me that you can apply even if you have different experience field than education. While some says that it’s not possible to apply for express entry if you have different experience field than education.

Also some of them told me that it’s compulsory to give IELTS exam for spouse too. While, some consultant denied that spouse must need IELTS and they told that you can apply for express entry even if spouse don’t appear for IELTS.

I am really confused. Am I eligible for Express Entry? If not is it possible to get PR (state sponsorship) for Ontario or Manitoba?

    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi Vahe,

    1. Is this express entry only open to technical people, what about fellows with a Ph.D. and only academic teaching experience?

    2. Does Canada immigration also accept a great score of Academic IELTS test in place of the IELTS general?

    3. If you working outside of Canada, how do you scout for a job in the Canada and get employed while you not physically present?

    Thank you

You do not necessarily need a job offer to be accepted through Express Entry. Hello Ankesh. Thank you for writing to us. Canada is a great place to pursue your education. You will first need to find a school and a program that best suits your educational goals. You will need to apply and get an acceptance from the educational institution. You can find a complete list of Canadian institutions here http://www.esdc.gc.ca/en/post_secondary/designated_schools.page Each school has their own requirements for IELTS scores. Once you have your acceptance, you can contact us to help you obtain your Canadian study visa that you will need.

Hello Nishant. Your sales would have to have a technical component to it, and cannot be solely a commision-based salary. You do have another option if you received your MBA in Canada; that would be the Master’s Graduate program, provided you are willing to stay in the province of Ontario. Hello! I am from the Philippines. My application is Express Entry as Skilled Immigrant. I have a valid job offer and arranged employment from a Canadian employer.

I have a working experienced which is related to the job offer as NOC code 5241.
    My work experienced as follows;
August 2006 to March 2009 (Philippines)
April 2010 to April 2012 (Philippines)
June 2012 to June 2015 (Brunei)

The situation is that, when I received a job offer from a Canadian employer, I resigned immediately from my previous employer. Honestly, I struggle in IELTS before I finally passed the exam. I was unemployed from June 2015 up to present for the reason of I am waiting for my papers to be processed. Does it will affect my application? Is proof of funds a mandatory requirements even if there is a positive LMIA?

I hope to hear a feedback from you soon.

      Thanks.

My overall score is 931 points. Do you think, I have a chance to get invited immediately? Regarding on the submission of all the documents in the Canada Visa in my country (Philippines), Do you think they will prioritize my application since I do have a valid job offer?

For how long is the processing of Immigrant Visa? Since right now, I almost completed with my requirements and ready for submission. Once I get invited I will book right away for the medical exam.

I am currently working in an IT field on work permit in the US and my experience is 8 years where as my wife has 3 years 10 months in Accounting/tax field, and she is currently not working as she is on dependent visa(already one year employment gap), so Shall i go ahead with express entry using her as a primary applicant OR will my profile have more weightage if I make the ILTES score again ?

        Hi Vahe,

I was reading your comments about minimum IELTS score requirement. I think it varies for each individual to enter in the express pool. I checked as per the calculator given on the cic site and my minimum requirement is 27.5 from IELTS, means I need to score 7 in 3 section atleast 6.5 in one of the 4 modules of IELTS to get in the pool.
I need to ask that if I score more in IELTS so will that be helpful to receive an invitation? or will it not matter if I score more than 27.5 in IELTS?

        Regards,

Hello Rizwan. 29.5 is the maximum points that you can obtain from your IELTS score that will count towards your Express Entry. You must have a minimum score of 6 in each of the IELTS categories. Sir, I am Narinder, by profession a banker. I am post graduate. I am married and have a son. Last year in the month of October i consulted an agency for applying for Canadian PR under express entry system with my wife and son. Since my son is just one and half years old, they told me to secure 6.5 bands in IELTS in each module if only I am going to take the test. And 6 bands in each module for me and 4.5 bands for my wife if we both appear for IELTS test.
However, i couldn’t get the required bands (R-5, L-5.5, S-5.5, W-6.5) and my wife presently can’t appear for the test. The consultancy, when approached, again told me to get 6.5 bands. Will you please, guide me as to what is the exact bands requirement under EE system if only I appear for the test and what is the requirement if we both do?

    1. Vahe Mirzoyan

Thank you for writing to us Narinder. The requirements in order to achieve the maximum points would be for you to get a minimum of 6 in all the bands and for your wife to get a 4 in all her bands. If your wife does not take the IELTS, then you lose the potential points.

If not, where particularly in Canada do they accept my score? What are the alternative ways to be eligible?

Thank you for writing to us Edward. In order to qualify under the Federal Skilled Worker Express Entry program in Canada, you must have a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four IELTS categories. Without that you will not meet the minimum requirements to qualify. I strongly recommend that you put extra effort into your English language studies so that this is not the reason why you cannot pursue your dream.

    1st time :
    Listening: 5.5
    Reading:5.0
    Writing: 6.0
    Speaking:8.0

    2nd time:
    Listening:7.5
    Reading: 5.5
    Writing: 5.5
    Speaking: 8.0

    3rd time :
    Listening: 6.5
    Reading: 5.5
    Writing: 6.0
    Speaking: 7.0

    My wife’s score:
    Listening:5.0

    Writing: 4.5
    Speaking: 60

My question is, do i have to take the test again??? since we meet the other requirements with very good(age/studies/money we take with us) (we plan to move to britisch columbia,Vancouver)

Some ppl say it is mandatory some say it is not!

Hello.. I want to immigrate to Canada but have been told that I need a job offer before applying because it helps quite a bit in terms of points under express entry I have a few friends who have tried finding work in Canada but have not had success even though they put a lot of work into the process. Is getting a job in Canada even a possibility?

    Hi.

Me and my boyfriend would like to apply to express entry as a couple. We don’t have anything to prove common-law partnership, but we plan on getting married if we receive an invitation to apply. Our plan was to set our status as “married”, even though we still are not, and then if we receive an ITA, we marry and submit our marriage certificate (which would have a date later than the ITA date). Are we allowed to do this or would we be disqualified?

    Thank you!

Hi, I received my IELTS scores(L-7.5,R-6.5,S-6,W-6) and thinking to search a job in Toronto with my skillset (DBA) which belongs to NOC 2172. I’m currently in India and thinking to search by getting Visitor visa or TRV because I think I will have more opportunities after landing there when compared being here. Please suggest.

Thank you for your inquiry Mani.

A TRV will not authorize you to work in Canada, however, being in Canada may improve your employment opportunities; coming to Canada on a Visitor Visa for the sole purpose of finding a job is not allowed either. Your situation is not straight forward and needs to be handled properly.

Is it a right approach to get a Visitor or TRV visa and search a job in Toronto(BTW my NOC is 2172 – DBA) after reaching there? I don’t think searching a Canadian job will be fruitful if I stay in India. Kindly suggest.

Or CIC only takes copies from Original report ? Because British Council sends only one original report with results and you can not ask for another original.

My IELTS score is 8 (Reading 8, Listening 8.5, Speaking 7.5 and Writing 7.5). My application status is open and is showing a CRC score of 441. It concerns me that the lowest CRC score to be selected in the Express Entry pool draw is 450. What are my chances of getting selected with the present score? Is there any way I can improve my score? If you are still not selected from the pool even after your wedding has taken place, it is best to update your profile to reflect those changes. Thank you for your inquiry. A score of 332 is decent considering you don’t have a job offer from a Canadian employer yet. With that being said, it is always recommended that you have a professional review your profile to ensure that you have calculated your points correctly as some applicants may give themselves too many or too few and in either case can have an adverse effect on their selection from the pool. Hi Simona,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, every applicant is required to take the IELTS test in order to be eligible to apply…regardless of being educated or residing in a country where English is the first language. MF

    Hello
Looking for advise please . I received an invitation to apply for PR via FSW program express entry last month . I submitted my PR application last month and my application is being processed.

Although I am single at the moment but I intend to get married in 2 months . After getting married can I add my spouse to my under process PR application.

    1) I scored 473 points on Express entry to secure invitation to apply for PR .Now that I have applied for PR and my application is under process. If I add my spouse to the PR application (got married , change of circumstances) at this stage will it effect my application as potentially If I was to recalculate my score it would be lower than 473 now.

    2) Would my spouse in this instance need to take IELTS and have her Educational credentials assessed.

    Many thanks

Thank you for your question. You are able to create your Express Entry Online Profile today, even without a Job Offer…there are many Canadian Employers looking to hire in various industries all over Canada that will refer to the CIC website and Express Entry Candidates as a means to find qualified employees. Of course it is also encouraged that you actively continue to seek employment through your own means during this process as well to increase your chances of selection.

For your English proficiency, it is very important for Citizenship and Immigration Canada to see that the applicant has the ability to communicate in English at a level that is considered to be “above average”. With that being said, you can accumulate a lot of additional points in your overall scoring if you can improve your English language. MF

It will assist in both the accumulation of points that will increase your chances of selection from the pool as well as increase his own chances of finding employment if he can achieve a 7 or higher. Hi,

Me and my wife both have IELTS score above 7. Both are eligible for immigration as per our eligibility check in CIC website and our occupation are listed in category “A” and “0”.

My query is, who should become the primary applicant. Can we apply with 2 applications, in one, I can be the primary applicant and my wife being the dependant and in the second application, my wife can be the primary applicant and me be the dependant.

Because we do not know who would have more prospects of having a job offer and better chances of getting an invitation.

What if we both get the invitation.

Please enlighten us on the above.

Although you have listed what Skill Level you and your spouse fall under, I do not know what is the exact occupation or if either one of you have a job offer from a Canadian Employer yet. My recommendation would be for you both to start applying for jobs online and see which of you has more options in terms of employment available, and make that person the Primary Applicant. MF

      Hello Eri,

Thank you for your question. There could be 2 reasons as to why you have received this response; either because it is an American University recognized in Canada your are not required to have your transcript or degree accredited, or, that there is potentially an error and you were unable to continue. Please contact CIC directly at 1-888-242-2100 and double check. MF

If it is not too much to ask for, can you please get that information from them directly. This is very important for me, cause i stuck with my application.

Could you please let me know that my Ielts score is Acceptable or not. Or is there any other way to go with this IELTS score in Canadian Express entry.

      Hello Muhammad,

Thank you for your post. If you were to check the CIC website on the requirements for Express Entry, you would see that the minimum score is an overall 7 for Skill Level 0 or A, and a minimum of 5 for Skill Level B for the IELTS. I always encourage all my clients to do what it takes to ensure that they get that minimum score or more as it will not only benefit you when you apply but when you are here in Canada working/adapting. Every test center provides additional language classes for those who need them, I suggest you register for them and re-take the test once you feel there is a significant improvement. MF

      Hello Sarim,

Thank you for your post. Although it is not a mandatory requirement if you are the Primary Applicant for your spouse to take an English Proficiency test, it will definitely give you extra points and help to boost your ranking, and in turn, give you a greater chance at being selected. I always advise any applicants and our clients to do what they can to achieve the maximum score possible, especially when it comes to English Proficiency. MF

So to answer your question directly, YES!!, it is possible and very easy to update your profile to include your wife’s ECA. Good luck and I hope you get selected soon! MF

Hello there. I submitted an Express Entry in January 2015 after meeting the minimum requirements. Since then I keep getting these emails from CIC telling me that my application status has been updated. However, after logging into my CIC account, I do not see any new information. I am getting confused.

      Hello Innocent,

Thank you for your inquiry. It is hard for me to give you an accurate answer considering I cannot see your profile and I do not know what the last updated document is as well as what time it was posted. It could simply be saying that your status has been updated and referring to the last log in you had where you have either added or completed new information or uploaded a document. If you require further assistance, I suggest you contact CIC directly by phone and ask about your status. MF

      Hello Sudha,

Thank you for your inquiry. I would strongly recommend that your husband take additional language classes to improve his English as it is one of the most important requirements to be selected. There are some provinces and territories in Canada that will accept him with a score that low, but that would mean that your husband as the Primary Applicant would be limiting himself in the selection process. Extra language classes are available through the IELTS testing facility, I would encourage him to register and aim for a score of 7 or more. MF

      Hello Omer,

Thank you for your post. Although it is not a mandatory requirement to obtain a LMIA from your employer, is certain circumstances where the applicant does not have enough points to qualify, we always recommend that they ask their employer to participate in completing one. There are many employers who do not wish to undergo this process because of the amount of work that it entails, but if you inform the employer that you have retained our professional services and that their involvement is limited because we will be doing all the work, they are more inclined to oblige. And to answer your second question, yes, you do need to have all of your academic credentials assessed if you studied outside of Canada or the US. MF

      Hello Arun,

Thank you for your post. I would not recommend that you leave your job in India until you are sure that you have secured a full-time permanent position here in Canada. The probability of you getting a job in your field is in your hands; the more that you apply to jobs through the job bank or various other sites, the greater your chances are of getting hired by a Canadian employer as well as posting your profile on the Express Entry program where a Canadian employer could potentially offer you employment. And lastly, our economy here in Canada is holding up a LOT better than many other countries considered to be “first-world” countries. Good luck on your search! MF

Do you recommenced changing NOC ? The only reasons I want to change it that for 2173 a lot of people apply unlike 2171. By the way I did get a UCI on my FSW 2014 application when it was returned by CIC in April 2015.

You need to use the NOC Code that best suits the description of the position you are looking to fulfill through employment, not the NOC that you feel is better for your selection. Applying incorrectly can sometimes result in processing time delays or refusals. MF

i also willing to apply for PR to Canada. could you tell me how did you get job offer from Canada. i have also done MBA Finance. please please let me know how to get job offer.
      Thanks very much
or you can call me on 09416383352 and we can clear our doubts by talking to each other regarding Express Entry System.

      Hello Shreya,

Thank you for your inquiry. The LMIA is not a mandatory requirement to apply for any program under Express Entry, but it is mandatory for a Temporary Work Permit. If your employer provides you with a LMIA for Express Entry and it is approved by the ESDC, then it will give you an additional 600 points that will contribute to your selection and invitation to apply for Permanent Residency. If your spouse is the Primary Applicant for Express Entry, then he is required to take the IELTS, if he is not, then it is still beneficial for him to take it as it will give you both extra points and boost your chances of selection as well as his chances of obtaining employment is he hasn’t secured a job in Canada already. In order for me to advise you on the total amount of points you are going to achieve on your application, please complete this assessment form.http://www.visaplace.com/immigration-assessment/

    Hi Owen,

I have filled out an online application for the express entry and my profile keeps coming up as ineligible.

I have worked in Canada for over 3 years (Skilled B, 1 year and a half), I have a post graduate diploma (2 years) and I also did grade 12 over here. I have my celpip test which I did in January, all high marks, I have proof of job offer and I’m still currently working.

Not sure what’s going on. The mail I keep getting back is very vague. Not stating exactly where I’m failing to meet requirement.

Could you please be of help of have any suggestions

Well I have the same problem! I tried 4 times until I was finally eligible and after a couple days I got an update of my cic and it said the profile is ineligible. I applied for another 3 times after and was ineligible. No CIC Officer knows what’s going on and everyone pushes the responsibility to another. Seems like the System pretty selects after Citizenship or something. Actually meeting all requirements for Permanent Residence funds, language, work history etc etc. with a total of 893 Points and I’m not eligible. Ya is right!

Hello Sir, I am living in India and having more than 10 years of experience as computer hardware technician. I am going to write IELTS on this march. If I get more than 6 in each band. What are my possibilities to get into Canada. Do I have to enter in express entry or shall I contact any consultant for applying job?

    Thanks & Regards

      Hello Thameem,

It sounds like you would have a fair chance of submitting a successful express entry application, but that depends on the exact skills you developed in your role as a computer hardware technician. It would also be very beneficial to find a Canadian employer. Hi,
i have already filled the online application on the express entry site and they evaluated my points as 935 points.

Firstly, do you believe that is a good score to be selected for that program?

Secondly, i am nominated from alberta province but i got only the 600 points from the LMO letter i have, i know that i am allowed for 600 points max in both channels. But under the nomination field it shows my case as pending and i dont know how to make it confirmed?

      Hello Neil,

Since the maximum score is 1200, your score seems fairly competitive, although it is hard to say for sure because express entry is a new immigration scheme. We would be better positioned to give you specific advice on the LMIA issue that you are having if you provide us with some additional information. Hello,

Thanks for the question. You do have valuable work experience and good IELTS scores. You could significantly increase your score by obtaining a job offer from a Canadian employer. You certainly have a chance of being invited to apply for permanent residency, and we can help to make your application stand out compared to others in the applicant pool. We would be happy to help you with this, and once you fill out our free online assessment form, one of our immigration professionals will be in touch with you shortly http://www.visaplace.com/immigration-assessment/

I am a dual citizen of the UK and Australia. Do I need to take IELTS? Considering English is my first (born and raised in the UK) language it seems odd I would need to.

The online eligibility tool asks for proof of these tests.

    Thanks.

I am writing to gather some useful information about express entry program. I have recently applied under the FSW program (application delivered on Dec. 04, 2014) and waiting for the results (so far it hasn’t capped out but I am skeptical about getting within the quota). In the meantime, I am curious to know if I could also launch my application under the express entry (new system) while my application is under review for the FSW 2014, considering my plan is to apply under the same NOC?

      Hello Priti,

For express entry there is no minimum score required. Your score will simply be compared to other applicants, and people with the highest scores will be successful. Also, if the application requires educational credentials, then they typically need to be evaluated by the WES or an equivalent agency.

Since this is a new system, we can’t accurately predict at this point what your chances of success are, but given that you have adequate experience in a skilled occupation and passing IELTS scores, our lawyers would be able to capitalize on your strong points to help ensure you can obtain Canadian PR. If you completed a degree outside of Canada, then in some circumstances you may need to have your educational credentials assessed. Remember that for the CEC program you have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply. Thanks for the question. Your wife does not need to take the IELTS, however if she does take the test and does well then you will receive extra points, and thereby improve the chances of you both coming to Canada as permanent residents.

      Hello Asfak,

Although pharmacists cannot apply under express entry, you could find a Canadian employer and then go through the LMIA process which is something we can definitely assist you with. You should also look into registering with the provincial organization which regulates the practice of pharmacy in the province you would like to immigrate to. Please see http://www.visaplace.com/canadian-immigration/temporary-visas/work-permits/ for more information.

    Hi,

My sister wants to apply for Canadian FSW. Here is here case:

    Age is 42

    IELTS: Listening-6, Reading-6, Writing-7.5, Speaking-6.5… Band-6.5

More than 10 yrs experience as Nurse in Saudi (been a Head Nurse too in Saudi’s Gov’t Hospital)

With spouse in Celfone repair jobs (I don’t know if this qualifies as trade skill) and graduate of University degree in Philippines. And a child in her first marriage.

One thing in the first marriage – It was not registered in the Government (NSO) and the divorce was made only through customary manner (tradition- a piece of paper signed by both that separated) I don’t know if they considered legally married and divorced or just Separated. Quite complicated on this part because that piece of paper is nowhere to be found now.

While the current marriage is legally binding as this is registered in NSO.

I am her brother who is already a PR and currently in Toronto.

We would like to hear from you the options for my sister. Express Entry, or Family Sponsorship, or anything possible. We would like too if you can help seek job offer for the express entry.

Sorry for the long enquiry. Thank you so much

      Hello Juana,

You should have at least 6.0 in each section of the IELTS to qualify. Also, if you are a manager in your broadcasting company, then that is considered a skilled occupation, however, just being a broadcaster is not considered to be a skilled occupation. You should search for some potential Canadian employers and possibly obtain a Work Permit which we can help you do, and if you want to practice social work you should look into getting registered by the appropriate regulatory authority.

You should first write the required licensing exams and look into the registration process with the appropriate regulatory agencies. You should probably be taking the general IELTS given that you have already trained as a nurse. Hello Marut,

Yes it appears that you will qualify for express entry once you have at least one year of full-time work experience in your field, and as long as we can make it appear that your professional responsibilities conform with that of an information systems analyst which is considered a skilled profession. Please see http://www.visaplace.com/canadian-immigration/canada-permanent-residence/skilled-worker-program/ for more information.

      Hello Gopi,

The IELTS test is required to immigrate to Canada, so you should plan to take this and you should score at least 6.0 in each section of the test. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for your answer Owen. Few queries ..

Is IELTS score required beforehand at the start of application?

Secondly do you think I’m eligible for express entry? My exp 14 yrs and age 42 yrs. Would I qualify?

        Thanks

          Hello Gopi,

Upon submission of the application you will need to include your IELTS scores in your finalized application. You certainly may qualify for express entry, although you should definitely seek our assistance considering that you are a bit old (based on the express entry age scoring standard).
