300,000+ New Immigrants planned for Canada in 2016

Immigration Minister John McCallum

Immigration Minister John McCallum

New target for Canada Immigration

Over the course of this year, the Canadian government is determined to welcome up to 305,00 new permanent residents in its 2016 Immigration Levels Plan.

This is the first time in a long time where the Canadian government has set a target of 300,000 or greater for any one year. Even though seemingly Canada has opened its doors wide for this year, the target number for economic immigration categories has seen a slight decrease from its 2015 plan.

John McCallum, Canada’s Minister of immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, said a bill tabled in Parliament calls for between 280,000 and 305,000 permanent residents to be welcomed into Canada in 2016. Those numbers include more refugees from war-torn Syrian. McCallum claims the government’s goal is to ‘bring in immigrants who wish to build a better Canada.”

The plan is expected to reduce application processing times, respond to economic needs, allow the government to meet humanitarian objectives, and support family reunification.

Hi, my husband was a Pakistan resident for 17 years in USA and got deported from almost two years ago. First time convicted for pharmaceutical drug pills smuggling (he was a small player) and did one year jail time before deportation. Does he has a chance to come to Canada as a permanent resident or any different entry? Please advice? He has six small children living in USA.

    Hi All,

I already have studied 2 Postgraduate Programs in Centennial and Seneca College and currently I am working for Husky Plastic Injection Molding Systems in Bolton, ON for more than 1 year.
Unfortunately my score in Express Entry is very low since I am over 45 years old and I am missing those 110 points that young people obtain just because they are between 20 to 29 years old.
The issue is that my work permit is about to expire in October 2016.
Is there any chance for me to extend my work permit? Is the Liberal Government considering cases as mine, that we are very profitable individuals ready to be kicked out from Canada?

Thank you in advance for your advise.

A speaker at a conference last week said that Canada is granting residency to people who have $5 million on deposit in a Canadian bank. Is that true?

    Reply
    1. Vahe Mirzoyan

Hello Diana. There are many investor programs that can help people get their permanent residency; just having $5,000,000 in the bank is not sufficient.
