Earlier this year, Citizenship and Immigration Canada was overwhelmed with a significant backlog of Federal Skilled Worker Applications and decided to get rid of this backlog by essentially deleting those that had been filed before 2008. These applications were taking years to process.
Now, Citizenship and Immigration Canada has announced that they will be proceeding with these refunds for the over 100,000 applicants and their spouses and dependents where applicable.
Are you eligible for a refund for the Skilled Worker Program Application Cancellations?
If you think you may be eligible, you are asked to submit the Return of Processing Fee, Right of Permanent Residence Fee or Right of Landing Fee Form (IMM 5741).
Even if you are not sure, you should still fill out the above form and if you are eligible you will be sent your new form.
Please keep in mind that if your application was denied before June 29, 2012 your fee will not be refunded, and you are not allowed to ask that your original fee be put towards a new application.
Do you need help with your application form? Was your Skilled Worker Application cancelled, and you want to consider other ways of becoming a permanent resident in Canada? Contact our immigration law firm today and we can help you.
