Upon graduating from law school, she articled for the Ministry of the Attorney General, Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2004. Since 2004, she has practised in the areas of entertainment, corporate/commercial and intellectual property law in-house. There are cases when the law works in your favor and cases when it does not.
In our immigration law practice, we see many immigration applications get approved or get refued based on legal technicalities. In some cases, there are immigration applications that are very strong but because of some unanticipated issue, the case is rejected. It usually does not go the other way - where the application is approved - unless an immigration lawyer is involved to “point out” where the Visa Officer may have made an error assessing the application.
Remembrance Day is less than a week away. On this day new immigrants may wonder why Canadians are walking around with little red flowers pinned to their coats!
It is not a rare occurrence to have clients phone into our office to inquire about the long wait times for the processing of their applications by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). Unfortunately, Canada’s desirability as a new home for those wishing for a fresh start is the main cause of this backlog.
