(Below is a transcription of this video)

Hi, this is Paula at The express entry category for Canadian permanent residence will begin in January of 2015. We don’t know all of the details yet, but as we learn more we’ll keep you informed.

What is the Express Entry Immigration Program?

Firstly, the express entry category is an application for permanent residence that uses an online system through the government website. The goal is to decrease processing times and to better select immigrants who will contribute to the Canadian labor market once here. The express entry system will be applicable to the following immigrants categories: The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trades Program, and The Canadian Experience Class.

How the Express Entry Program Works

The express entry ( IELTS ) program works in two stages. Step one, candidates complete an online profile. So, first of all you’ll have to complete an online express entry profile. This is basically a questionnaire which will ask for information pertaining to your skills, your work experience, your education and your language ability. If you meet these requirements, your application will then be placed in a pool along with other candidates, and will be ranked according to various criteria including things like whether or not you have a job offer, however you can still rank without one. If you do not have a job offer or a provincial nomination, you’ll have to register with the government of Canada’s job bank which will then direct you to eligible Canadian employers.

Applying for Permanent Residence in Canada

Step two, Citizenship and Immigration Canada then invites you to apply for permanent residence. Once you complete your online profile, and if you rank in the top of your pool, you will then receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada. Those who have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer or provincial or territorial nomination will be given high scores in the ranking system. Once you gave been invited to apply for permanent residence, you will then have 60 days to submit your electronic application under one of the following programs: The Federal Skilled Worker Program, The Federal Skilled Trades Program, The Canadian Experience Class or a portion of the Provincial Nominee Program.

The most important aspect of the express entry program is to get an invitation to apply for permanent residence. Contact us and find out how we can help. Thanks for watching, and stay tuned for more updates.
