US Government increases spaces to hold those facing deportation from the US
The US Government, in an effort to crack down on illegal immigration in the US, is set to increase the amount of beds at their detention center in Tacoma, Washington from 1000 to 1600. When some are saying that illegal immigration is actually decreasing and considering that the detention center has received very strong opposition from many parties, including the mayor of the city that is currently housing it, the funding for this increase in space may be questionable.
When facing US deportation, consult an immigration lawyer
The best strategy of course for people facing deportation or immigration removal is to seek legal assistance as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of US immigration detention. If you are detained by US Immigration, it is very difficult to secure your release. You would have to post a bail bond which in some cases, would be substantial. Further, your access to legal counsel and family members would of course be more restricted than if you were not detained.
Finally, if you are deported, obtaining a visa to return is very very difficult and in some cases impossible. US Deportation and detention are serious matters and should be handled by an experienced immigration lawyer.
